    • Hi there,I am new to the site and began my interest in the tiny house after I watched the documentary. I am a student, soon to be a teacher and I have a lot of student debt. I want to be able to move out after my graduation but I don't want to accumulate anymore debt. My concern is about the winters where I live in Canada, on the prairies. Our winters can get down to -35 C without windchil…

    • I will be building my tiny house in the coming spring 2014. One of my requirements is the house is strong enough to be very mobile. Camping, visiting family, touring the country etc... It will see many places. Anyway, I've been worried about a wooden house being moved around a lot so I am thinking about welding some steel posts the the trailer bed to give the house some structural stability. I und…

    • I have been wondering if someone has has used a 20 ft container as a trailer by welding on a tung and axles.

I think this would probably lower the structural integrity of the container some but even if it was halved its well over the maximum i have ever heard of a tiny house weighing.

Seems to me that a high cube container could just have the top cut out and a roof

I have been looking for information on the frame and had actually seen a few built with camper frames however the majority with heavy duty frames. • As you will see the outside of the tiny house plans are based on the Weebee by Tumble Weed Houses with some changes here and there. I'm a pretty tall guy so I wanted to add dormers for more headroom while sitting up in bed. The Loft will be open to the front. The bathroom will be bigger, and same with the kitchen<img src="http://www.smallhouseforum.com/uploads/FileUpload/ee/10d9ce778554579715e91…

The house is cinderblock/adobe/stucco, comprised of one 20'X24' kitchen/lvingroom/bathroom and a 16'X16' bedroom. There is a large w…

    • Hi All, New here just checking it out.  I live in a 160 sq. foot house (used to be 120 until this summer!) in Vermont.  I have no plumbing and generally shower and do laundry at a neighbors.  However I have a rinky-dink kitchen sink that uses a tractor battery and a 12 volt pump to run water from a 7 gallon jug on the floor to the sink faucet, really just for dishes, hand-washing, c…

    • I recently bought a double axle trailer(7000lb) that has an enclosed steel box frame(7x16x6' high) built on it. I want to build a tiny houseusing this box frame and then build above it using the top of box as a loft floor. How should I put in sheathing, siding, etc? Do I need sheathing? I was looking at Certainteed Cedarboard XL insulated vinyl siding. It looks like wood, has insulation built in…

    • Hi everybody. I'm new here and I'm glad to be able to talk to others who are enthusiastic about the tiny house movement. I've decided to seriously plan to build this spring if I can get a personal loan, and one thing I can't seem to find is a good diagram for plumbing and grey water storage for a model like the Tumbleweed Waldon. I've decided not to bother with black water…
